F.A.C.T. (Feed A Child Today)

First of all, thank you to everyone who has or is supporting F.A.C.T.; our feeding program in Panama.  For those of you who are unfamiliar with the program, you should know that St.Paul's is partnering with Go Ministeries (in Panama) in the feeding of 250 school children a day in a highly disadvantaged area in Panama City, specifically at the Republic of Korea Elementary School in the village of Samaria.  We do this because many times it is the only meal that these children eat and because if these kids were not being fed in school they would be out on the streets stealing or begging rather than getting an education.

Many of the public schools in Panama are named after different countries.  Hence, the school that our program is taking place in - Republic of Korea - has nothing to do with Korea other than the sharing of the name.  The school is a primary school of about 750 children.  The teachers at the school screen the kids that we feed - choosing the neediest.  These kids receive one meal a day, five days a week while school is in session.  The families of these children receive counseling and guidance.

Several of us from St. Paul's had the opportunity to visit this school this past month and actually interact with the kids in the school and in the feeding program.  We met the volunteers and actually had a meal with the kids.  The day we were there, we had chicken and rice.  The actual area that the kids are served in holds approximately 30 people.  In order to feed 250 kids they need to have many different seatings.

If you are contributing to the Feeding Program, I thank you and ask you to continue.  If you currently are not contributing< I would ask that you consider doing so.  For just $6 a month we can feed a child for a month.  The need is still there.  We are currently feeding 250 kids but the need stretches beyond this number.  To contribute check out www.stpaulswired.org/fact

Thanks again,

Bob Jeram
